Chapter 10 Knowledge Structures
The sections in this chapter collect recurring patterns that help organize, communicate, and reason about knowledge structures that are used in mathematics, science, and technical communication.
Like most of the content in this Zettelkasten (particularly during this initial brain dump/PreTeXt learning curve phase), rather than focusing on any particular subject, these sections focus on teh forms through which knowledge is express, justified, and communicated.
Currently, the topics fall into three broad categories:
- Formal Statements
-
What kind of claim is being made?
- Reasoning Structures
-
How is the claim justified?
- Language Structures
-
How is the claim communicated?
Remark 10.0.2.
Knowledge does not only exist in facts, results, and grand ideas. It not only exists, but cannot persist without effective communication. This chapter collects notes on those reoccurring structures as Eigenscribe Inc.-related projects evolve.
While the sections in this chapter aim to be consistent with common conventions as much as possible, they are intended to be used as organizational guides rather than a comprehensive reference manual of technical terms. As this chapter evolves, additional sections that have practical applications in enhancing understanding, creating/brainstorming new ideas/applications, or increasing effective communication of scientific knowledge for Eigenscribe Inc. will be added.
